Financial aid
At New Hope Lutheran Academy, we offer opportunities for financial aid. We believe so deeply in the mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and of educating children in the Word of God that we want our Christian school to be as affordable as possible. During the 2010-2011 school year, nearly 90 percent of our students received some form of financial aid.
New Hope Lutheran Church Members Tuition Assistance
One type of financial aid is for members of New Hope Lutheran Church, our founding congregation. Whenever members of our congregation give offerings dedicated to the school, that donation goes into a fund to reduce the cost of tuition for New Hope members’ children.
We believe that it is important for the children of our congregation to be nurtured on Sunday during the church service and in Sunday school, but also to be nurtured in a Christ-centered learning environment. We want our school to be a blessing for the children of our congregation as well as the children of the community. Therefore, we want to make it as easy as possible for church members to send their children to our Christian school.
Step Up for Students
We also accept scholarships from Step Up for Students Program. The program is an initiative of the Florida Tax Credit (FTC) Scholarship Program. According to www.stepupforstudents.org, “The innovative program provides K-12 education scholarships for qualifying low-income students who are entering kindergarten or first grade OR who attended public school the previous year.”
The scholarships cover up to $4,011 for private school tuition. The scholarship is based on income according to the number of people in each household. The program is funded by corporations that redirect a portion of their tax obligations to the program. For more information about qualifying and applying for the program, visit the Step Up for Students website.
Step Up for Students program is now closed to new applicants for the 2011-2012 school year. Returning applicants can still apply. Check the Step Up for Students website for more updates.
John M. McKay Program for Students with Disabilities
We also accept the John M. McKay Program for Students with Disabilities. This scholarship allows parents to choose the best educational setting for their children. The New Hope faculty and staff will evaluate all students applying to New Hope on the McKay scholarship to ensure that we are able to provide the appropriate environment for each child. For more information on the McKay program, visit their website.
