About New Hope Lutheran Academy
Founded in 2004, New Hope Lutheran Academy is a private elementary Christian school
located in the heart of West Melbourne, Florida. Our Christian school, which teaches students
kindergarten through eighth grade, was started and continues to be operated by the members of
New Hope Lutheran Church. Our foundation for all aspects of both our Christian church and our
Christian school is the Word of God.
New Hope Lutheran Academy exists to provide a high-quality Christ-centered education
to the children of our congregation and community. We believe that every child is precious.
As such, it is a joy and privilege to serve children in an environment of love that mirrors our
Savior’ s love for us. At New Hope, our teachers, staff, and volunteers share this vision.
The school is fittingly named New Hope because of the “ new hope” we have in Jesus
Christ. We believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world, and we share this truth with our students
and parents as well. Parents send their children to our Christian school with the knowledge that
their children are in a safe educational environment where Christian teachers know their child,
their child’ s needs and how to encourage them.
At New Hope Lutheran Academy, students from kindergarten through eighth grade
prepare for the future with challenging courses that are enriched with Christian teachings and
morals. Our small class sizes enable us to truly know our students and help them develop
their God-given abilities. Because of our flexible multi-grade classrooms, we are able to place
students into groups of their peers based on ability and proficiency rather than solely on age.
And most of all, we are able to provide our students with the truth of God’ s Word, the one
changeless thing in an ever-changing world.
About Our Campus
New Hope Lutheran Academy was built in 2004 on the campus of New Hope Lutheran
Church in West Melbourne, FL. Our building was carefully designed with students in mind.
Each classroom provides a comfortable learning environment with current technology available
to all students. Our campus also includes new playground equipment, a basketball area, a soccer
field and multi-purpose field for leisure and physical education classes.
About New Hope Lutheran Church
New Hope Lutheran church, founded in 1980, is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical
Lutheran Synod (WELS). As a member of the WELS, New Hope believes that the Bible is the
true, inspired word of God. The Bible teaches us that God judged all sinners righteous in his
sight when Jesus Christ died on the cross for us. God declared everyone free from the guilt and
punishment owed for our sins. The sinner receives this free gift of forgiveness, not by doing
good deeds, but only by faith which is a gift from God. A person is perfect in God’ s sight when
he or she believes in Christ and his redemptive work. We cannot do anything to earn this free
gift, but in thankfulness we naturally look for ways to serve others.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “ For the word of God is living and active…” Learning more about
what the Bible says and how it applies to our lives is a big part of life at New Hope. New and
existing members can attend Bible information classes which cover all the basics of what the
Bible teaches. Weekly Bible classes cover anything from current issues of interest to digging
deeper into individual sections of Scripture. Pastor Raether’ s training in the Bible’ s original
languages, Greek and Hebrew, allows us to be sure of the intention of the words used and their
context so we can get an even clearer picture of what God wanted to convey in his love letter to
us.
All of this leads us to New Hope Lutheran Church’ s mission statement:
“ We, the family of believers at New Hope Lutheran Church, united in the saving
Word of God, are committed to grow in faith together through the study and use
of Word and Sacrament, and exist to win souls for Christ and to nurture believers
for lives of Christian service, all to the glory of God.”
The members of New Hope love to get together. We have fellowship every Sunday after
church and we have special opportunities for fun throughout the year. We have had chili dumps,
bonfires, game nights, bowling and mini golf to name a few. It is so encouraging to spend time
together with other believers. We come from diverse backgrounds and walks of life yet we all
share one thing in common—the peace that comes from trusting Jesus as our Savior. We hope
you will join our family!
