Academics
At New Hope Lutheran Academy, we believe that education is more than just
teaching academic skills; it is equipping young people to reach their full potential in
the real world. In order to accomplish this, you need a balanced program that nurtures
mind, body, and spirit. The teachers at our school
have the training and experience to support students in each of these areas. Each holds a
bachelor’s degree in education and is certified by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran
Synod (WELS).
The multi-grade advantage
While most people today are used to one grade per classroom, New Hope Lutheran Academy uses multi-grade classrooms. A multi-grade classroom can offer many benefits:
- In a multi-grade classroom, the mix of ages and abilities provide opportunities for student collaboration where older students serve as role models.
- Older students learn patience and helping skills with their younger classmates.
- A multi-grade setting lends itself very easily to individualized instruction.
- The US Government reports: “Research evidence indicates that multi-grade instruction has a significant positive impact on student attitudes, and tends to enhance achievement outcomes under positive implementation conditions.”
- According to education scholars Wendy C. Kansten and Barbara K. Clark, children in multi-age or family-grouped models score either similarly or academically better than their comparison peers in traditionally grouped classes.
- WELS trained teachers can maximize the advantages of a multi-grade classroom.

in Florida schools should be learning in each grade. As a school in Florida, New Hope
Lutheran Academy examines the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and makes
sure that the material we are teaching meets or exceeds these standards. The standards are
outlined for the following subjects: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social
